Stanley Lumapas, one of the most experienced, talented and respected technicians in the Portland OR area, has completed four months with Reach. He has moved past the honeymoon phase and into the performance phase. Read his thoughts about being part of the Reach team.
Q: What has been the most positive aspect of being part of Reach?
A: There are really three things that come to mind.
First, although the company “Why” (Technician Success) was communicated at first, it has been how the “Why” is lived out on a daily basis that has made the difference. I can’t stress this enough. My company really wants me to succeed in taking care of my clients.
Second, I feel like I get to be part of a dental community in my territory. I talk with my clients about our towns, our schools, our events and our families. There is a sense of camaraderie. It feels great!
Finally, I get to do what I love. It is a great way to provide for my family. I serve my clients with integrity and provide real value. I am not there to sell something but rather help. My family gets to experience my happiness and see how I am able to serve my clients.
Q: How has the experience aligned with your original vision and hopes?
A: I am able to build close relationships with my clients and able to stick with my clients in resolving equipment problems. The situation in my past made this tough. I feel like I am becoming part of my clients’ offices. For example, recently I worked on a sterilizer that was really tough to repair. But I was able to stick with it, communicate with the office, be transparent, make it right and earn their trust. They were enamored by the experience.
Q: How has the support you receive matched with a company focus on technician success?
A: My team is always there for me. Anne, Greg, Darold and our other technicians, we have conversations on good days and when I am having challenges. They help me with all my questions and with parts. They also help me with the ownership thinking aspect of the job. In this role, I get to go beyond the technical part of the job. My team is there to help me grow and always work to get better.
